Ken Bloom

What do you love most about working at Bloom?
We have an unbelievable team here at Bloom. Once we welcome an employee to our office, they stay. (Our employee retention is an exemplar across the industry). We treat our staff like family. They’ve watched both our business and our family grow. It is so important for our clients to have stability in the staff they’re working with. I also love that I get to work with my brother and daughters every day. There’s nothing better.

What type of clients do you like working with most?
My brother and I started the business with no clients. I remember the challenges of the early years and the hard work and effort that went in to building a business. Because of this, I connect well with people who have similar beginnings. I enjoy thinking through complex problems and tackling issues from both a legal and financial perspective.

What is your greatest professional accomplishment?
It is incredibly gratifying to have been in business for over 36+ years with my brother. We have experienced tremendous growth and I am grateful for the opportunity each and every client has given us in handling their finances. I am proud to now have 20 members on our team and over 1,200 clients.

What do you think makes Bloom special?
Oftentimes the industry only focuses on the uber-wealthy and ignores the masses. Overwhelmingly, our clients are every day, hardworking people. We believe that all investors are worthy of great advice, regardless of the size of the portfolio. In addition, we care deeply about doing right for our clients and treating them the same way we would treat our own family. We always try to go the extra mile, even when it isn’t in our best interest financially. Not everyone in the industry can say that.

What did you do before you joined Bloom?
Before starting the firm with my brother Rick, I worked for a large corporate law firm in Los Angeles. Other than having to take an additional Bar Exam to be licensed in the state of California, it was a wonderful experience.

“Il Mulino in Greenwich Village in NYC has the best Italian food. A trip to New York isn’t complete without a visit to our favorite hole-in-the-wall restaurant.”

2

Number of hole-in-ones. The first was on my parents’ anniversary, and the second was on the weekend of my daughter Jennifer’s wedding and my daughter Stephanie’s birthday.
