What do you love most about working at Bloom?
I love the fact that we are able to make a meaningful, positive impact in our client’s lives nearly each and every day.  I also love the camaraderie of our staff.  I call them my “work family”. We support one another professionally and personally.

What type of clients do you enjoy working with most?
I most enjoy working with the really nice ones…just kidding! Actually, we are fortunate to have an amazing group of clients.  However, I enjoy working with the novice investors the most. I like the opportunity to educate them and ease their minds, so that the idea of investing or estate planning is no longer overwhelming for them.

When is a time you felt you made a meaningful difference for a client?
We recently had a new client who left her previous investment firm due to an operational error of an employee that cost her nearly $20,000. As a client services professional my job is to be the client’s advocate, so I took the matter to our internal legal team to see if anything could be done. Long story short, we were able to convince the previous firm to make our client whole and reimburse her for the additional taxes she was forced to pay. Needless to say, the client was ecstatic!

What do you think makes Bloom special?
Aside from the fact that I get to work with vastly experienced and knowledgeable professionals, I think what makes Bloom special is that we don’t limit the ways in which we assist our clients.  We go the extra mile to consider aspects of our clients’ lives that don’t necessarily have anything to do with the management of their portfolio or estate planning.  We give guidance, direction and often times hands-on assistance to our clients.

What did you do before you joined Bloom?
I graduated with an Economics degree in the height of a recession, so my first job post-graduation was scooping ice cream at Sanders while simultaneously waiting tables at Bill Knapps (I know I’m dating myself!). Thankfully, discount brokerage firms were taking off, so my first professional job was as a broker with Olde Discount. That’s where I obtained several NASD licenses. My next position was as an investment specialist with Charles Schwab in their Southfield branch.  Yes, Scott Whyte was my manager at one time!  After that I landed my dream job with Bloom, and I couldn’t be happier with that decision.

“I’m known as the office meteorologist (weather geek). I love all aspects of weather and our atmosphere: cloud formations, storm cells, meteor showers, you name it. My co-workers have been known to ask me if they need to take their umbrellas to lunch. I must be good!”

Twin

I have a twin sister named Mary Lynn who lives in Bluffton, SC.  No, we don’t look alike. She is a natural blonde, and I’m a natural brunette. Well, we used to be anyway!
